DPP Summer Funiversary Details

The time has finally come to celebrate DPP’s on year Summer Funiversary! Sure it’s not exactly a one year anniversary and there is plenty of summer left, but we’re having a huge show to celebrate anyway. We’re also doing a few unique things to make this show the biggest one yet.

This show will be a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign and admission will be $10. Beer will be provided by Block 15 and all who join will get a Death Pot Pie / Block 15 pint glass to take home. We’ll also have plenty of merchandise on sale, a bunch of new songs to play, and a first ever meeting of the Chateau de Drunko and Eastern Bloc house bands.

FYI, this is a 21+ show only.  We don’t need to go to jail!  Need more details? Hit up Woodshed or Unit 91. See you there!

You don’t even know!

The 4th of July was a very exciting time for the band.  We’ve  been holed away at the Chateau for the last month plotting and recovering from a hard year on the road, but excitement is to come.  In addition to a rocking show lineup planned, we have some smoking hot new media to release soon.  10-4 good buddy and keep the pedal to the metal.  Rawr.

Ladies and Gentlemen…

…bozos and clowns…rumor has it that with Unit 91’s mysterious disappearance from the Chateau this weekend that Bob Woodshed has holed himself away in a dark room working on the next great DPP development.  After all, what else would he do in the Chateau by himself?

Keep your eyes on the site in the next week or two for awesomeness that would make the sauciest hobo blush.

A Year of Awesomeness

What a year its been. What started off as more or less a joke has become somewhat of an internet sensation. Death Pot Pie is the video game-based band. While others have collaborated to get high scores, DPP has shown that getting together and having fun is by far a better equation for success.

So what have we done in the span of a year? Here’s a short list:
-Started deathpotpie.com
-Put out a line of merchandise including a t-shirt, hoodie, and our own line of coffee
-A series of event-specific posters
-A fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation
-38 official DPP shows at six venues
-Became an recognized student organization at WSU
-Became the first ever sponsored VG band by Peak Products
-Released three albums, one of which is live
-Finally, we gained dozens of new members

That is by no means a comprehensive list of everything we’ve done, but definitely some cool stuff. Thank you to absolutely everybody out there who has made this possible. Things are picking back up again for us and we have a huge announcement coming up for early August. I’m already excited as hell to be making this post again a year from now .

Happy Anniversary!

Today is officially the one year anniversary of Death Pot Pie. Thank you to everybody out there who has made this date possible. Expect a full update later today about not only how this date is celebrated, but also a huge event we have coming up in August.

Monday Night Practice

For the first time in over a month, Woodshed and Unit 91 picked up their axes and practiced some new material. While they only rocked at approximately 85% of their capacity, the overall feeling was that this summer is going to rock ridiculously hard.

Also noteworthy is that DPP has a new summer tour roadie. Kansas (not the band) rocked the bass most of the night and kept senior DPP officials fully hydrated and in tune. Expect to read a whole lot more about him soon.

Finally, plans have changed somewhat in regards to a large summer DPP show. Because June and most of July are shot due to other engagements, we’re thinking of doing some sort of huge show in early to mid August. More details to come, but we’d love to hear feedback about this idea.

Like the horse

Many already know this story. It’s a story of frustration, dedication, and horsies. It has been said that you can lead a horse to a double flying V guitar, but you can’t make it play “Freebird.” Like the jockey leading his expensive poop machine, we too had difficulties with practice last night. Turns out the horse has hooves and hooves make using a PS3 controller incredibly difficult. Jockeys, however, have thumbs; and that helps. Hooves, as you know, don’t have thumbs. So Unit 91 (the horse)’s hooves didn’t have thumbs and Woodshed doesn’t have hooves.

I guess what I’m trying to say is practice didn’t happen last night. HOWEVER, what was supposed to be practice turned into a pretty decent planning session on incorporating new technologies into our shows. You think Axl Rose just busted out Chinese Democracy in a day? Of course not. Mediocracy takes 15 years or whatever.

So what’s coming up? There may be a private practice tonight at the Taco Stand and definitely a practice on Sunday.

Horsies.

DPP Warming Up Tonight

Word has it that DPP will be practicing tonight for the first time since the world famous Graduation Show. Unfortunately, this practice session will be closed as Woodshed and Unit 91 are using it to test the acoustics of the newly renovated Chateau de Drunko.

With that, the big question at hand is “when will DPP’s next show be?” Tentatively we’re looking at mid-July for our next big show. The time off has done wonders for our enthusiasm to keep rocking, our ability to come up with a lot of creative ideas, and our livers. In the mean time, sit back and enjoy more frequent posts about how our practice sessions go as well as hints about any cool new shit coming up. Finally, expect some updates and tweaks to deathpotpie.com as well.

Update

As Unit 91 alluded in the last post, some big changes are happening for DPP. In short, consider this brief hiatus as a quick break before we start what will no doubt be a rigorous summer touring schedule.

What are some of the things we’re up to, you may ask? For one, we’re undergoing a huge construction project at Chateau de Drunko. What prompted this construction project? Bob Woodshed is returning to the Chateau! That’s right, Woodshed and 91 will be under one roof.

The Eastern Bloc has also undergone some changes. For one, Disney has gone off to, well, Walt Disney World. Congratulations goes to her! As for everybody else, they’ll be back in the swing of things once August rolls around.

So stay tuned. The biggest and best things are still to come. Word has it an anniversary show may even be in the works…

Don’t you worry…

There is so much awesomeness to come, you better put on your diapers because you might just poop in your pants.  ”Too late” isn’t an excuse.

We are on a temporary hiatus while we are retooling after some major life transitions, all of which are good for the band.

Chateau…need I say more?
